Umbrellas of London – Les Parapluies de Cherbourg

All of this rain, wind and general turbulent weather patterns has found me thinking rather bizarrely of one of my favourite movies Les Parapluies de Cherbourg which has Catherine Deneuve and others pranching about in puddles singing and generally making rain quite fun and attractive – yes I know my mind works in very very mysterious ways!

Now I usually eschew nice and expensive umbrellas, due in no small part to the fact that the minute the rain stops, me being a fickle sort tend to forget the damned things and many a brolly has been abandoned on tubes, bars (very common this), restaurants, buses, work just about anywhere in fact.

My current brolly is a dreadful looking Burberry fake which I stole from a friend 5 years ago and now has bits hanging off, holes and the spokes sticking out at a jaunty angle but its still just about managing to do the job – a bit like me really!

However, a change is in the works and I am sorely tempted to purchase this lovely Eliza brolly from Lulu Guinness. I love the colours and the roses and am having visons of me sploshing in puddles sort of like Catherine Denueve. Bets are now being taken as to how long that particular brolly will actually last! Bets have closed on it lasting anything up to a week!
