Tatty Devine and The Pansy Project

I can be quite a tough cookie to crumble, but upon hearing news of the tragic suicide of Jamey Rodemeyer, the 14 year old video blogger subject to homophobic bullying, I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. How could anybody subject an innocent person to such despair is beyond my comprehension, and I think it’s imperative that high profile figures such as Lady Gaga continue in their efforts and support of the gay community.

I was very pleased to learn that my darling favourite Tatty Devine are on the same ethical wavelength as me. They have teamed up with The Pansy Project to design these limited edition brooches, £45, which accompany a related photography exhibition at the Brick Lane store of Tatty Devine.  With each brooch named after the all too familiar hurlings of abuse, all proceeds go towards The Pansy Project, a venture by artist Paul Harfleet, aiming to raise awareness of the intolerance and mental and/ or physical abuse suffered by the homosexual community. Better still, each brooch is hand painted- a truly unique creation.

Never look down on anybody unless you’re helping him up. — Jesse Jackson
