Tatty Devine and The Pansy Project

I can be quite a tough cookie to crumble, but upon hearing news of the tragic suicide of Jamey Rodemeyer, the 14 year old video blogger subject to homophobic bullying, I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. How could anybody subject an innocent person to such despair is beyond my comprehension, and I think it’s imperative that high profile figures such as Lady Gaga continue in their efforts and support of the gay community. I was very pleased to learn that my darling favourite Tatty Devine are on the same...

Something old something new something knackered……

We all have them, those random single earrings, broken chains, bits of necklaces, half a bracelet. What also gets me is if you are anything like me, you never actually throw anything out! There they all are languishing, all broken and sad in the scrapheap of a drawer or jewellery box or dressing room table or kitchen table in my case waiting for action but never quite getting any because they don’t come as part of a pair or they used to be great, quite special even and now...

Down Mexico way

I went to Mexico once a few years ago and travelled all around it. It was brilliant and what I loved most about it was the colour and vibrancy and lushness of the imagery. Now I did get slightly weary of seeing pictures and images of Frido Kahlo literally everywhere and if it wasn’t Frido staring woefully at me, it was statues of Our Lady of Guadaloupe and if it wasn’t those two ladies looking wisftul it was scenes of skeletons (yes you heard me), skeletons having a whale...

Where I receive a lovely surprise

I came home from work the other day and saw a strange looking bulky black envelope sitting in my hall! It didn’t look like a bill or a savage demand from the Inland Revenue or even a debt collector so I opened it and out popped a beautiful Smythson (don’t you know!) notebook from the girls at Isabella Oliver saying thanks for supporting them! Now isn’t that nice?I thought so too. As it happens, they have introduced handbags this season to accompany their belts and scarves, and very nice...

Pom-Pom Par-tay!

How great is this photo of Nicki Minaj sitting akin to Anna Wintour at Carolina Herrera the SS12 show? Illustrating a strange sort of harmony within the  fashion world , it highlights how the music industry continue conduct itself as a driving influence across the strongest catwalks and designers. While head-to-toe pom poms may be a tad extreme for some, I spotted this  kooky bag at the TK Maxx preview. Nicki Minaj definitely has my vote – hurrah for the bizarre! Electric Ladybird x

Guess Vogue Fashion’s Night Out

Electric Ladybird and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the Guess Fashion’s Night Out party at their flagship store in London’s Regent St. It would have been rude not to avail of the copious amounts of champagne and cupcakes fashioned with a very cute Guess logo no less and even ruder still not to purchase one of these really cute bracelets which reminded me of my Acid House party days years before many of you were even thought of I’ll wager. All proceeds from the sale of the bracelets and...

TK Maxx an all day extravaganza

I have a bit of history with TK Maxx but not in the way you might think. I once went for a job at their Head Office in Watford doing something very unglamorous and much to my chagrin, the confidence I had in my own abilities and their confidence in them didn’t quite marry up so that was that! So possessing a concilitory nature, I found myself on Tuesday 6th September on my way to a bloggers lunch hosted by TK Maxx in Panoramic private members bar at the...

The Eclectic Presents….

Eclectic: “the combining of elements from a variety of sources” Such a definition could not be more appropriate. Friday 9th September marked the first of a very exciting new shopping experience in Nottingham: ‘the eclectic presents…” Hosting hand-crafted wares from specially selected designers and creators, this fantastic collective includes bearers of jewellery, clothes, beauty products, candles, bags, headwear, bunnies (of the material kind)….. the list continues! Here at Access Accessories, we strive to bring to the table the best in small, independent sellers, as well as those already well established in the...

Umbrellas of London – Les Parapluies de Cherbourg

All of this rain, wind and general turbulent weather patterns has found me thinking rather bizarrely of one of my favourite movies Les Parapluies de Cherbourg which has Catherine Deneuve and others pranching about in puddles singing and generally making rain quite fun and attractive – yes I know my mind works in very very mysterious ways! Now I usually eschew nice and expensive umbrellas, due in no small part to the fact that the minute the rain stops, me being a fickle sort tend to forget the damned...

The sun always shines on LG…………………

I comissioned Laura Gravestock to make this beautiful sun ring for me a few weeks ago which goes with my heart and crescent moon ring amazingly well. It has been admired so many times I cannot begin to tell you, most recently from those impressively stylish gals at Fluorescent PR who I lunched with (don’t you know) at TK Maxx’s bloggers lunch at Paramount Centrepoint yesterday! It was also admired by the Editor of blog STYLERAWR – check it out its a great fashion blog. I also bumped into...
