Its all on the head…Katherine Elizabeth Hats…..

I made my annual pilgrimage to Made in Clerkenwell Christmas open day at Craft Central in St John’s Square London. I was fairly targeted in my quest but got sidetracked by the wonderful ceramics by Ali Miller. I then climbed the very steep stairs to the 5th floor to my favourite milliner Katherine Elizabeth and bought two wonderful felt hats, one in caramel and the other in cream for a very reasonable £35 each. I also took some pics of the lovely Katherine at work. www.katherineelizabethhats.com

GUESS what!

Guess I popped into the Guess open event this weekend and spurned on by rumours of cold weather I came across this gorgeous gloves which must be purchased. With the hands covered I then got to thinking I will need something to put in the hands and saw this lovely Covent Garden tote bag in leopard print…….and GUESS what…………it has to be purchased too……… Sticking to the hand theme, I even got my nails done free at the event in a beautiful burgandy colour, so my hands are lovely...

Lets all go buy milk…….

Lulu Guinness If like me you have always coveted Lulu Guinness’s red lips bags but cannot afford the price tag. Now you can…..in the shape of her snappy new shopping tote which comes in at a great £35 price tag. You can fold it up into the red lip shape to fool all your friends and enemies into thinking you have bought the real thing before unfurling it to put the groceries in. Never has going to the shops for toilet roll and milk looked so stylish. Ideal Christmas...

Recession – what recession

I came across what has got to be the most expensive candle I have ever seen or been up close to. I’ll wager not even the Vatican in its hey day stretched that far. Its lovely, its probably even worth the money if you have any, which I don’t! So if you are an oligarch or even an oligarch’s girlfriend, wife, consort, friend even you can put it on your Christmas list. I am reliably informed they are available at Harrods & Harvey Nicholls (would expect nothing less)! The...

Me and Zena and Mare St Hackney

Me and Zena As a writer I love the tools of my craft, and the tools are unsurprisingly, pens, paper, pencil sharpeners and of course the computer. So I loved coming across these fabulous bracelets shaped like a pencil (featured pic) and the anchor necklaces (below). I also loved their signature necklaces shaped like a robot (a nod to the computer). Chatting to Emily who does the marketing for MeandZena jewellery, I was delighted to discover that MeandZena (owned by Zena McKeown) operate out of Mare St Studios in...

Femmes Dangereuses

I like to think of myself as a bit of a dangerous gal, skirting perilously close to the dark side (usually on the edge of a pavement after a few scoops on a night out on the tiles). I blame my hair, which is unruly, I don’t have a pension, hell I don’t even have a job at the moment, so its fair to say I might know what I’m talking about. However being dangerous (careless, or in my case not using a hairbrush much),is far more interesting than...

Post Its go all 21st century…..

I love POST ITs! In my opinion they are the best inventions ever, I particularly like the giant ones and the ones in pink and blue. I write all kinds of nonsense on them, they pop up all over the place, all dog eared, years later in jargon I always fail to understand but clearly meant at the time! I’ve found them in my bed, stuck to the back of coats and jumpers, attached to food stuffs in the fridge and in my knicker drawer (don’t ask) to name...

Hanging on the POP phone……………………….(as in the Blondie song)

POP PHONE Its that time of year again when a gal like me gets invited to all sorts of interesting previews and events showcasing the next big thing for SS12 and beyone. Being a naturally nosy sort I love sniffing around and finding new things and I was very taken with this new invention which is so simple I am surprised no-one else has thought of it before……………..Readers I bring you the POP PHONE! Now before you all think my brain has gone POP and popped right out of...

Mad Hatters, tea and Curious creatures

I went for afternoon tea last Friday at the Sanderson Hotel in Central London and it wasn’t just endless cups of tea, old dears, cucumber sarnies with the crusts off and salmon paste offerings, the old dears were there alright but there were a lot of not so old dears (me) and a lot of young dears (my colleague). Well anyway the tea was based on Alice and Wonderlands Mad Hatters Tea Party and was awesome, you literally had very little idea what you were putting in your mouth...

Recessioned out – Fiddling while Rome burns

I don’t know about you guys but I am sick to the absolute back teeth of this sodding recession. How long has this been going on for now? Years!!! I am afraid to buy a pack of crisps such is the fear of armageddon pervading at the moment. Now I keep hearing about how fantastic the boom years were before 2008, where was I is the question I often ask myself.  I personally never actually had financial good times, in fact these last few years haven’t been too bad...
